Rooms of our Own is making preparations for our crowdfunding campaign via Spacehive.
Those of you who have followed our progress will know that we were offered a site under the provisions of the Localism Act at less than market value, taking into consideration the huge community benefit our project would bring.
Sadly some months later we were told that the Council have now decided to put the site on the market, despite numerous positive conversations with council officers including planners and housing officers.
We have been asked to bid for the site anyway, with officers telling us that they think our project is very worthwhile, and they are not obliged to take the highest offer but can decide on “best consideration”.
We therefore need to give a monetary value to all the community benefits Rooms of our Own will deliver, and also to raise some funds towards the purchase of the site.
Our wonderful patron, Stella Creasy MP, has kindly agreed to feature in a video that we will be using in our Spacehive campaign. Here she is with Rooms of our Own director, Nabila Pathan, in Portcullis House.
